Vacation Fun!

Finally out of the car!

Amelia's first trip to the island- August 2010

We managed to get away on our long awaited trip to one of our favorite places! Chincoteague Island! We didn't go last summer so Amelia didn't remember it but Amanda did remember and was so excited that she was volunteering to do whatever she could to help out! It is amazing how on vacations helpful attitudes just emerge! Amanda and I decided it was too bad we couldn't just be on vacation all the time!
The girls got right to work with their favorite job on vacation, putting the sodas and waters in the frig!

Since Amelia didn't remember being there when she was not quite one......we took her on a tour...
The hotel sits right on the bay so we walked on the dock which she thought was pretty fun. They have an indoor pool and "pool for mommy and daddy" (as Amelia would say) we didn't get in the indoor pool because we were too busy in the outdoor pool.
We saw a lot of ducks that live in the ponds around the hotel. Sometimes the birds got in the pool with us which cracked the girls up! We noticed the birds and ducks there are not afraid of people at all.

We went and visited the ponies since that is what puts the island on the map! Love this sign!

What a gorgeous horse!

We went to a fun carnival that the Firemen host every year to raise money. We had never been there for it and we all really enjoyed it. It was like a REAL carnival! So fun.Amelia loved his ride. She calls it the roller coaster ride and probably went on it about ten times that night.

The girls enjoyed driving the cars.......little blurry since they were moving........

We had never seen  a horse ride like this one but the girls liked it.

I am so glad my girls love amusement parks and rides, because hubby and I do too!

So fun daddy!

She loves her little roller coaster!

Guess who wanted to ride the carousel? I knew she would get over her disliking them eventually! This is the second time she has enjoyed riding one!

She loved checking herself out in the mirror. Not sure where she gets that!

There was either no line or we would have to wait about five minutes for a ride with the exception of the Ferris Wheel which was about ten minutes. Amelia and I just watched that one while daddy and Amanda rode it. She kept yelling at them, "You get down here right now!" ha ha

Everyone was allowed to chose an end of the night treat. Amanda chose a slushie.......

Amelia chose cotton candy.........

I chose ice cream but this little sweetie asked for a lick and never gave it back! ha ha

And daddy FINALLY got his long awaited funnel cake and shared it! So sweet. He has tried several times in the past to get his favorite funnel cake......at Storybook land the funnel cake place was closed..........at Dutch Wonderland the girl who makes the funnel cakes had just left for the day.........so it has because a running joke to us that he never gets his cake and gets to eat it too!
