New chores assignments!

Last night after dinner Amanda said, "who cleaned the floor last?" "Was it you daddy?"

Daddy- "No."

Amanda-"Was it you mommy?"

Mommy- "Yes."

Amanda-"Well, you didn't do a very good job!"

Daddy- "Amanda that's NOT very nice!"

Amanda- "Well, she didn't, she missed a lot!"

Mommy- "Well then, it can be your job now."

She took the broom and dustpan and went to work pointing out what I had missed.

Mommy-"You know, you don't do a very good job of cleaning up your toys."

Amanda- "Well then, it can be your job now!"

Daddy and Mommy- We just laughed! What else could we do? I told her today that I would reorganize all of her toys but she had to keep them organized and put them back in the correct bins, cubes, etc. She told me she would so we shall see. In the meantime, Cinderella can keep cleaning the floors since she does a much better job than I do.

One month already?

Wow, I can't even believe we have a 4 week old! I am starting to feel a little more normal this week:) It is funny the things you really appreciate again once you have a little one who consumes most of your time. I cannot take short showers even though I do try....but I think this little one is trying to teach me to. It took three attempts but I finally got my hair washed by the late afternoon and I felt so great you would have thought I just won the lottery! It's the little things I forget to appreciate like a warm shower that this season have life has just reminded me to just be thankful, even if the shower is a little shorter than I like:)

This week has been fun! It started off with a wonderful visit from a wonderful mom. The moms group that I am in has mentor moms, moms who have been there and done that. I have a different one from last year and she came on Monday to visit and brought us a yummy meal! We had a delightful visit and it was such a nice way to start our week.

On Tuesday we took lots of naps and played and Amanda watched way too much TV but hey, it's the season of life and its not going to damage her for life! The stuff she actually watches is taped and no commercials (those are what I worry about her seeing the most, I mean really these shows called Criminal Minds and CSI or something have horrible previews that scare me I can't imagine her seeing them!)

Who watches those awful shows anyhow? And we wonder why we have such a violent world? I have never watched them but from the previews I can't see anything good/wholesome to plant in our minds in them.
I would rather read The Three Little Bears to my daughter for the 10th time, as we have done this week. That story never gets old and Amanda expanded it this week with Goldilocks coming back and apologizing to the three bears and to her mommy for not telling her she was going into the woods:) I thought that was pretty creative:)

On Wednesday- another wonderful friend brought us dinner and 2 of her little darlings played hide and seek with Amanda:) Amanda was thrilled and had so much fun with her children, we are already planning to have them over for play date! After dinner we went for our first family walk. We have taken walks before but this was the first one with daddy.

I love evening walks, they really clear my head and just help me to relax:) Plus, it is a blast to see Amanda push her stroller with her triplets in it:) She does have to stop often and "fix my hair" she stops and then puts her hair behind her ears:)

On Thursday-another wonderful friend came and brought us dinner just because she was going to be in the area and she is so sweet. We enjoyed visiting with her and Amanda loved playing with her precious little girl and we had fun introducing Amelia to them.

After she left I was feeling lonely and wanted to get out but I didn't want to go shopping or anything major so I called my mom and she was free so we went to visit for the day. We enjoyed hanging out and playing bingo and went to lunch. It was Amelia's first lunch out with her mamaw and papaw and Uncle:) She did very well and slept while we ate. I know that won't last for long so we will enjoy it while we can. Amanda visited her favorite talking parrot after lunch with mamaw-I am so surprised she hasn't asked for one!

On Friday- We ventured out to Chick-filet with a play area, it was Amelia's first visit to this one:) Then we played with sidewalk chalk outside, picked some tomatoes from our garden, and went for a walk. Then you would never believe it but another friend brought us a very yummy dinner!

What a blessing to have such good friends, truly the generosity and kindness we have been shown the past several weeks has really been overwhelming and such an incredible blessing to us. From the sprinkles we have been showered with, to the gifts, to the visits, sweet cards, and the meals, and phone calls, we just feel blessed to have such wonderful friends and family.
God has moved some of my dear friends away it seems yearly.......sometimes the ones I least expect of moving...yes, we are still friends but I tell him "hey I need friends here too" he never fails to keep answering that requests for good friends to replace the ones that move away and he has really bless us with some wonderful friends. I am so grateful to him for constantly providing the friends I need:)

Nursing and Modesty

It is soooo funny how things that bothered me with Amanda don't bother me as much with Amelia. My mom tells me that I am much more relaxed this time. I haven't noticed since I don't feel too relax but anyhow. I didn't feel comfortable nursing Amanda in public places for a very long time. If we were at a restaurant I would run to the car to nurse even if it was in the middle of a meal. Eventually, I got over what others thought and nursed in public, but always with a blanket over me and still a little nervous. I just was never one to show and tell like some of those ladies from La Leche:)

I think modesty is so important even though breastfeeding is a natural, God given thing there is never a reason to show and tell what God has given you. Plus, people around you might not be comfortable with it. I know you can see more at the pool than when nursing but still I always have practiced modest nursing until.............last week!

We had stopped into Toys R Us to buy a present for a birthday party Amanda was attending. I told Amanda I was really tired and we couldn't keep Amelia around others for too long....somehow the quick trip ended up being a longer trip.......and Amelia was ready to eat. So we raced to the car, and I put her on my lap in the front seat to nurse. I figured since we had tinted windows in our new car that it would be a breeze and she was screaming so I wasn't as modest as I normally am, but since we have tinted windows it didn't matter no one could see me......y0u know I have never had tinted windows before.........

I told Amanda "If I didn't know better I would think that man is looking right at me staring, but we have tinted windows so I know he's not!" Amanda told me she thought he was but I told her again, "no we have tinted windows he can't see us!" A few minutes later I told Amanda,"man if I didn't know better I would think that woman is looking at us!" She was making motions around her breasts like she was talking about mine to her passenger and then she appeared to look right at me! A minute later the guy parked next to us seemed to have a problem looking at us too, while he was waiting for his mate to come out of the store, but I knew it was just my paranoid mind because I was out of my comfort zone since this was the first time we had nursed in the car with Amelia.

When we got home I told my hubby about it and he told me that yes, we do have tinted windows but PEOPLE CAN STILL SEE INSIDE OUR CAR!

WHAT?????? I thought having tinted windows meant no show and tell? What was he talking about? How could this be? Oh no, my daughter was right! All of those people that I kept saying if I didn't know better they were watching us really were watching us! I just about died but then I thought, hey my daughter was hungry and I had left my hoodie hiders at home and hey, I just didn't know that tinted windows didn't make me invisible as much as I would have loved to have been at that moment!

Week of more "Firsts"

Time really flies when girls are having fun:) This week we ventured out for the 1st time to the grocery store with both girls. I will admit to being so nervous and worried, wondering how I would pull it off... but it worked out great and all the worrying was just a waste of time! (Isn't it always?)

Amanda was thrilled to see a small green shopping cart waiting for her since the past 2 trips to the store with daddy, they have all been gone! She pushed the cart and I pushed the stroller and our little, precious, baby girl just slept the entire time. I will say using the shopping cart which normally holds about 5 bags of groceries, cuts our grocery shopping bill down a bit:) I find that we don't buy things we don't need.........or grab those last minute items that seem to call my name because they look good or are on sale. Amanda is so much fun to grocery shop with!

On Tuesday-mamaw stopped by for a while to visit after teaching her Precept class, and we really enjoyed our time together! She is still having PT but is driving by herself now, back in the pool doing water aerobics, and back to teaching Precepts:) She's busy! You go girl

Later in the afternoon a friend from our church, and moms group brought us a yummy dinner. We really enjoyed that because dinner is something I normally do, but it never fails that around that time Amelia is her most neediest so hubby enjoyed the break from having to get dinner on the table after working all day.

On Wednesday another friend and her son came over to visit and meet Amelia. She has five children but only the youngest came since the others are in school. Amanda is 2 years older than he is so she tried mothering him and he didn't like that. He did enjoy playing with her baby dolls which thrilled her!

It is interesting how age differences and gender of playmates change the way Amanda plays etc.

Later that day, we decided to venture out to the new Chick-filet our friend told us about. We chose to go in the late afternoon to avoid the crowds (our Doctor has told us to keep Amelia away from family gatherings, church, and crowds, not sure how much longer I can listen to her as we have only been out a few times and you know how much I love to run around) and it worked out well. Amanda was the only one in the play area and there were only a few customers there and the manager brought everything we needed to us, refilled my drink, even took our trash away for us.

They are so nice there although I did get a little worried when she sat down at our table to talk to us. I am just not into having uninvited guest sit down and dine with me when I am really hungry. She was sweet to us though:)

Amanda loved playing in the indoor play area and I like the fact that it is pretty clean:) Amelia enjoyed her 1st trip inside of a Chick-filet so much that she slept the entire time. I felt happy that Amanda had some fun since I know she has heard a lot of "no, be careful, just a minute, you are going to have to wait I am feeding/changing Amelia, lately. She turned to me the other day and said, "that baby takes up all your attention and there is none left for me!" It broke my heart!

On the way home Amelia woke up and was not happy and we hit traffic due to construction so we took the back roads and stopped off at mamaw and papaw's house to feed our baby. This was another 1st, Amelia's first trip to mamaw's and papaw's house!

Thursday we stayed home all day and had a great time playing together. It really reminded me of the way we use to play all day together before late pregnancy hit and of course Amelia's birth etc. This was the 1st day since having Amelia that we spent the day having child directed play time.

Amanda chose all the activities so we started out reading books and when the girl wants to read books this is an hour long event. I love it! We sat and read on her bed and Amelia fell asleep on her bed. So we let her sleep and played restaurant. Amanda was an excellent waitress, she not only brought me the menu, but she cut up my food, prayed for it, and sat with me. She said, "not all the waitresses do this for their customers but I do." ha ah She told me that "this is not fast food, but slow food." It was really fun to play with her and see her role play!

Next we played grocery store, then we OK, I decided it was time to sort the food and dishes because everything had become so disorganized. I like them in their labeled bins! I really enjoyed that and felt a sense of accomplishment, I actually completed something today. This is another 1st since Amelia has been born since I really just change diapers, nurse, rock my baby, and sleep. I needed to feel that sense of accomplishment even if was just putting some toys away in their proper bins.

I really enjoyed the day playing with my big girl! Amelia really enjoyed sleeping in her big sis's bed and when she was awake her eyes were focusing on Amanda's glass slipper night light lamp:) I told Amanda that Amelia is already eying her lamp and loving her bed and princess sheets........Amanda was thrilled! Later, another friend brought us dinner. It was so nice to not have to think about making dinner tonight and just being able to play and give attention to my big girl. She really needed some attention and I was thrilled to be able to play with her and give it to her! I am so thankful for such a great group of friends that I have! We have felt such an outpouring of love from our friends throughout this exciting yet a little stressful transition time in our lives. Thank you God for wonderful friends!

Friday another friend stopped by to visit and Amanda had her playing hide and seek and tag for over an hour. Amanda just loves this friend and so do I! She gave Amanda the extra attention that she needed even though I am sure she didn't expect to go home so tired from a visit:) She was just coming to visit and meet Amelia but got much more than she bargained for, thank God she is such a good sport!

Friday was the day that I got the idea in my head to not take any pain medication because I just am tired of taking pills. But......by the late afternoon I decided that pain pills were for a reason. :) When daddy got home from work we did another 1st for Amelia, we went to Amanda's favorite pizza making restaurant. Amanda loves it because she can wear an apron and make her very own pizza the manager is always impressed with her work. :) Amelia slept the entire way there, through the entire meal, and even through the trip home. So I guess she didn't even realize she had made it through another first:) What a fun week of firsts for Amelia and fun with friends:)

Look who is three weeks old!

It is so hard to believe that just three weeks ago we had this little angel:) She has been very busy !
Amanda says it best, "she eats, poops, and sleeps, and poops."
Amanda tried to nickname her little sis, "poopy baby" but I told her that is not nice and to not call her little sis that anymore!
She has a new nickname for her "baby sister" It is funny how she rarely calls her by her name and calls her little sis, sissy, and baby sister most of the time.
Amelia continues to be a great eater and is sleeping for four-five hours at night. We stopped waking her up every 2-3 hours like the nurse said to do because she is over 9 pounds now and have found that she is a much better sleeper and eater when we don't wake her up and just let her sleep when she is tired, and eat when she is hungry. Why wake her up? I would be ticked if someone woke me up to eat!
She sleeps most of the day too! The life of a baby sure is great! She reminds me of my grandma, she just falls asleep every where! She fell asleep in the swing tonight, she falls asleep on her tummy time mat, on a blanket on the floor, in the car, and in the stroller when we take walks. So far she only cries when she has her diaper changed and isn't dressed yet or if her big sister wakes her up or if I leave the room to go to the bathroom. I guess she won't be like her big sister who use to love hanging out in just her diaper.
We have only ventured out to doctor appointments for Amelia and for myself, Toys R Us to get a present for a party, and to the grocery store once. I told my girlfriend I thought it was going to be so hard with 2 kids at the grocery store and then realized after I said that she has five kids so it was nothing to her! She was sweet though and told me it was an adjustment and was so encouraging:)
Her big sis would love for her to be awake more but the girl loves to sleep.......Amanda continues to enjoy being a big sis and is a great helper when I need her to bring me something. She does however, like to wake up her sis the minute I leave the room and sometimes with me in it! So we are working on that! Some days a little more than others. I know it must be hard for her since we had a pretty full schedule that pretty much ran around Amanda's classes and now......we have slowed down, (MAKE SURE YOU READ THAT TWICE BIG SIS and others who think I run around way too much, you know who you are) ha ha
We really have slowed down! I am starting to go a little stir crazy with the slower pace of life.......and not running around...but we want to keep Amelia healthy. The doctor has asked us to not take her to church/or around groups of people..but I think I am going to attempt church on Sunday and maybe a local playground this week because I really am feeling that need to get out.......and I think my big girl is ready to not be cooped up! Although, she has gotten out more with mamaw and papaw and their trips to get ice cream or go to lunch and her grandma came and took her to the playground last week.
Amanda only goes to one class right now on Saturdays. She goes with her dad and is taking soccer. It just started on Saturday so I will try and post pics soon! She really liked it and it nice to continue her "daddy time on Saturday mornings" with her dad. They have done that for almost 2 years now! So sweet:) I am not sure who enjoys the classes more.......
Amanda also started an new club on Sunday nights. It is called Awana and she is in the cubby class. It is a club for 3/4 year olds and is similar to Girl Scouts where you earn badges but the focus is on learning scriptures and about God. They have a story, snack, puppet show, and play games.
She didn't want to go when we first told her about it but we didn't know a whole lot about it, so we told her she should just try it and if she didn't like it she didn't have to go back. She loved it and plans to go back. Daddy is helper in her class and did the puppet show on Sunday night! He told Amanda it was a good thing she had done all of those puppet shows for him because otherwise he wouldn't know what he was doing! (I would have loved to have been there)
Daddy said she was good which was our main concern since she had a full day at church that morning so we weren't sure if going back at night would work for her since she is no longer a consistent napper. We rested and watched part of a movie that afternoon and that helped I think......The most exciting Amanda news is that she was promoted to mamaw and papaw's class a week ago so now she is their little student and grand daughter. She asked me one day if she should call them mamaw and papaw or by Miss____ and Mr_____ like the other kids. Of course they told her they didn't care she could call them whatever she wanted. I think she plans to stick with just mamaw and papaw for the time being. The fun thing about having her in their class is that I get to hear EVERYTHING! I have heard that mamaw "does all the work" and "papaw just signs kids in and plays with play dough" UMMM.............and I was feeling sympathetic on Sunday afternoons when he was tired?
Well, I better run my little sleeper just woke up and I hear a dirty diaper calling my name!
