Amelia is not a fan of the dark! She needed something out of her room and it was "too dark" and she needed me to come and turn the lights off. I was finishing something and told her I would be there but it would take me a minute but that it was OK for her to go in her room and get what she needed in the dark.
She told me she was scared of the dark. (It wasn't that dark in there since it wasn't that late but it was dark for her.) She said, "I am scared mommy!" I told her a verse I say when I am scared and that God is always with us so we do not need to be scared just pray and ask for His help, I told her the verse..."When I am afraid, I trust in you!" A few minutes later I hear her walking into her room saying, "Please help me not to be scared God, please help me God, please help me!"
She got what she was needed and ran back to tell me she wasn't scared anymore! I was so glad she was able to conquer her fear of the dark for that moment, but more importantly, thrilled she turned to God in prayer for help. I love to hear my kids pray spontaneously on their own, it is music to my ears!

Out of the mouths of babes!
I love the funny things kids say so much that I thought I would collect funny things kids say and write a book, but then discovered someone had already thought of MY IDEA and had written a book!!!! So, I still collect them from my girls and love to listen to my friends tell me what their kids say! I just love it, because I love to laugh and kids crack me up so much more than any comedian.(Although, Mark Lowery is pretty funny!)
This past weekend we went away and on our last day at the hotel we slept in and we were all just sitting in bed talking! I love these moments!
The girls were bummed that it was the last day of the weekend vacation (they LOVE hotels.)
Amanda said, "I have to go to school tomorrow, and Amelia has to go to school, and dad has to go to work, but mom.....SHE DOESN'T HAVE TO DO ANYTHING!"
Wow, I never knew that and am really looking forward to a day of "not doing anything" I am just wondering when that day will be?
(IF ANYONE ELSE MADE THIS COMMENT ABOUT ME I WOULD PROBABLY BE A LITTLE OFFENDED BUT COMING FROM GIRL.....IT STILL HAS ME LAUGHING!

Guess Where I got to go?
You guessed it, she finally let me chaperon the final field trip and I was so excited to go! She wouldn't sit with me on the bus since she wanted to sit with her friends and I understood.......so I had fun talking to another mom and grandma. We saw a play that was really good and I enjoyed the trip with the exception of the bus breaking down for a few minutes........yikes! It was a fun trip and I was happy this "cool" girl decided it was OK for mom to finally come on a field trip.

Special Sunday 4 US!
Today was a special Sunday for us!
I know in the picture it might look like we are at a spa with the pinkish light and the white robes. While
a day at the spa is something I enjoy......this event was far more exciting and had much more meaning.........
Baptism can have a different meaning depending on the religion........for us, since we are believers or Christians, which simply means we realized at a certain time in our lives that we were sinners in need of a Savior. We chose to believe that God sent His only son Jesus to die on the cross to pay for the penalty for our sins. We chose to believe Jesus rose from the dead! We chose to make him our Lord and Savior and trust Him with our lives because we know His plan for us far outweighs anything we could come up with.
We confessed and acknowledged that we are sinners to God and asked for His forgiveness.
While that certainly doesn't make us perfect, (anyone remotely close to us knows we are not perfect) but we just want to live out our lives to serve Him by serving and the people He directs us to serve.
We want to love people and see them the way Jesus sees them. This is a hard thing to do sometimes, and something we can only do in His power. We get his power through reading His word, bible study, and talking to him through prayer, going to church, worshipping Him, and even
fellowshipping with other believers.
God has used so many different Christians in my life to teach me something. We continue to be works in progress but since we have all asked Christ to be our Savior and Lord inwardly........we wanted to be Baptized because we believe the bible tells us that God commands us to be baptized to show the world outwardly what has happened in our hearts inwardly.
A card my mom gave us had a quote from Roy Lessin- it sums up the meaning of Baptism quite well I think. "The waters of baptism paint a vivid picture of our Christian faith-symbolizing the cleansing of our hearts from sin, death to our old way of living, and our resurrection with Christ to walk in newness of life. "
Our pastor basically said the exact same thing to us before he baptized and prayed with us. We really are so thankful for our church and pastor!
I have many friends who attend different churches and I love them all dearly, and it makes me look forward to Heaven all the more. Because in heaven there will be ONE church, living together for eternity!
In the meantime, we plan to serve out the rest of our days, loving our Lord and Saviour, and doing His perfect will for our lives. Allowing him to use us for his glory! While we will never be perfect and will continue to fail, disappoint, and offend at times, we will then claim God's perfect love and grace and allow Him to pick us back up and put us on the path He chooses for our lives.
What we have in God is soooo much more than a religion or denomination, but a true relationship with Jesus. I honestly, do not know where I would be without His constant love upon my life! He is a friend like no other!
What a precious day to remember! Of course, Amelia didn't get baptized yet but when one of the pastors took us on a tour of the baptistery one day Amelia was with us. When we got home we were all together and she jumped up and said, "So guys, when are we all getting baptized?"
We pray that one day when she is older she will chose to follow Jesus with her whole heart, and then get baptized too! We will be sure to take some pictures!

Mother's Day Breakfast!
On the way home from school this week Amelia told me that she was making me a mother's day craft at school. I told her that was so nice and wondered if she was making me breakfast in bed on Sunday! I told her I was just kidding and she said, "Well, Daddy will have to teach me to cook! I will have to ask him if he can teach me to cook the other day."
I am really loving her concept of time and how she says, the other day and the next day, or the day after this week. So cute.
I told her I could teach her to cook and she replied, "No, daddy is REALLY smart and is the cooker so he can teach me!"
Out of the mouths of babes is all I can say because she is right......Daddy is the best cooker, but not for long because I am hosting a cooking club with a group of friends this summer so watch out daddy, I just might end up being the number one cooker in the family!

Easter 2013
Amanda enjoyed the empty tomb rolls! I think they will be a new tradition for Easter morning.
We went to church but since it was so rainy we didn't take a picture by the flower cross this year. (It was a misty rain so not fun to be in.) Hubby and I taught a Sunday School class so we stayed for an extra hour to teach. The church held a special activity during this time, for the kids who had parents working and Amanda really enjoyed it! We look forward to Easter being later next year because it might give us some better weather!
How anyone can look at children and not believe in God........I really do not understand!
We really had such a lovely Easter and I am so thankful for such a relaxing and entertaining day, but I am most thankful for a Savior who died and rose again for me not because I deserve it, because I certainly do not, but because He loved me enough to pay for my sins and that just makes me love Easter a little more every year!
