The other day I received an interesting catalog and with the busyness of Thanksgiving, I piled it on top of all the other magazines and catalogs I wanted to read someday. Today was that day and let me tell ya I have never been so shocked! Keep in mind this is a child's catalog and website YoungExplorers.com with a lot of great products but let's just say the following 2 books and game will not be under our tree this year or any other year...it was a sad reminder of how books and games have really changed from when I was a child.
1) A book entitled, "Walter the Farting Dog" -Blame it on the dog! Kids roll over laughing when they read this book about a well-liked dog with a Flatulence problem! Walter the Farting Dog is a New York Times best seller, is even more fun with our cuddly Walter toy that makes "farting" sounds when squeezed! Book is hardcover, and printed in the USA Ages 4+ $29.95
2)Oh ,Yuck! The Encyclopedia of Everything Nasty
Warning! The more you burp, the more you are going to burp! Read all about it and sweat, belly button lint, toe jam, and how eating ants for 6 days can save your life. Everything gross from A-Z.......kids will talk about all the fun facts in this book! 212 pages, Ages 8+ $16.95
3) Got Gas? What a Blast!
EWWW! There's nothing gassy Gus won't eat, from baked beans to broccoli. Feed him a food card, pump his head and his stomach swells...........but watch out- the bigger his belly gets, the more chance Gus will blast gas, and that's a penalty! The first to feed him all the food cards without an "explosion" wins! Includes a back up belly! ( balloon) For 2-4 players, ages 5+
$24. 95 Choking hazard (not for under 3 years)
Really now, who thinks this stuff up? Who actually buys books and games like this I would love to know! Why would anyone want their kids to read books like this? Isn't this the stuff we train them to not talk about? I mean I will never forget how much trouble my nephew would get in for telling us, "my bottom just burped!" ha

I am not a morning person.........
but this little one didn't get the memo and is a morning girl! She wakes up so happy and is full of smiles in the morning:) Thankfully, she goes right back to sleep for a while so maybe there is hope for her!
This little angel has never been a morning person either, perhaps that is why we get along so well! She use to stay up later and woke up between a 9-9:20 until she stopped napping and started going to bed earlier, now she gets up around 8-8:30. This is the way it has been until now.......she woke up a little after 6 and as you can see...........she's turned into a morning person full of ENERGY!

Being Thankful-Put to the test too many times in 1 day!
Wow! I think my mind and body has been in shock over what happened a couple of weeks ago that I can just now finally write about it. I wasn't have one of the greatest days, my baby was fussy and wouldn't nap, I couldn't figure out what was wrong. I tried the sling thing to carry her around in so I could get something done and I think I have decided that we are just not going to be sling wearing baby people.
I see so many people with them on and they seem so convenient, but I must be doing something wrong because I felt like Amelia was hanging all the way down to my knees and was going to fall out with every step I took.
Anyhow, I didn't have a lot of patience with sweet Amanda and looking back she was just behaving like a normal 4 year old, so the mommy guilt kicks in because I wasn't grateful for my kids that day like I should be. I asked God to forgive me that afternoon, but what really makes it quite funny is that I wasn't grateful that day, yet I was doing a five minute talk about being grateful at the mom's group I attend called MOPS that night.
I was sharing how to have a Thankful heart, by sharing a fun activity we have done the past three years with Amanda. ha
You may wonder if God has a sense of humor? Well, let me tell ya, he does!
On my way to MOPS that tonight, I had my praise music blaring because I can't do this with the kids in the car and I like to play it loud so I can sing and not hear myself sing. I saw these flashing blue lights behind me so I pulled over because I figured they were in a hurry and it is the law to pull over. Only, the police car pulled over too!
Oh no, a million thoughts crossed my mind like, "Great, now I am going to be late" to "my husband's going to kill me if I get a ticket because they are so expensive" not to mention he's not a big fan of my driving anyway!
The officer yelled at me because I only cracked my window.....he yelled, "put your window down, put it down all the way!" Yikes! He played the tough guy at first, which scared me to death! I was like, "OK buddy, no need to scream at me, you already have my attention, you did that with the flashing blue lights!
I have watched way too many TV shows so I was scared that he was really just a "bad guy" dressed up like a cop so I wanted to make sure he was legit! ( I probably shouldn't have told him that though looking back, but I was just so nervous!)
I really have heard of people pulling people over dressed like police officers just to rob people haven't you? Please don't tell me I am the only one?
He asked me, "Do you know why I pulled you over?" I told him, "I have no idea."I really was just so shocked to be pulled over. He said I ran through a stop sign! Umm......I sure don't remember that........ but I told him I was sleep deprived because I have a 10 week old and I was soooo sorry.
He asked for my license.......I bet he wished he hadn't......let's just say my purse is a mess! Not to mention, it's big, with a little purse in it because I didn't have time to change purses. So I had to perform my own "search and rescue" just to find my license! After several minutes, I think he was getting tired of waiting and said, "OK" and I told him, "don't worry I will find it!"
He took it and went and checked my record. I told him several times that I was sooo sorry! When he came back he said that he was going to just "give me a warning" since my driving record was good! He handed me the paper and told me he had a six month old at home! Thank you GOD!
I had told him I was going to the church (that is where our MOPS meets) he followed me for a while. I wonder if he thought I was lying? or if he wanted to make sure I behaved?
I felt so grateful for just the warning and thanked God over and over, and went to my meeting, enjoyed seeing my friends, and a great talk from our speaker.
After the meeting my friend helped me put 4 bags shoe boxes full of items for needy children. The program is called Operation Christmas Child and you can find out more about it at http://www.samaritainspurse.org/
The ladies at MOPS had filled the boxes and brought them in. We put them in large trash bags and put them in the back of my car. I drove about 1/4 of the way home down a busy road when all of the sudden.......the hatch flew open and out flew one bag of boxes, and then another........yikes! I stopped in the middle of the road and put my hazards on (there wasn't a side of the road to pull over since it was a double lane and since cars were coming I was afraid to get out of the car.)
Several cars came and went around the trash bags, I was praying so hard that no one would run over the bag of boxes those sweet ladies had put together! When traffic slowed down I ran out and grabbed the bags and of course, one of trash bags had to rip open and a shoebox flew open and the contents of that box when all over the road. In the mean time, several cars are going around me, and of course no one stops to help, but I was just thankful for not a lot of beeping going on.
I prayed aloud so hard, "Lord, help me, don't let anyone hit me, I want to live to see my babies!" "Come on God, I am doing something good for needy kids, not out doing something for myself!"
I should have probably just left the stuff but hated to so I grabbed the tubes of toothpaste, a ball, several coloring books, etc and just threw them into the car as fast as I could along with the trash bags and got in the car so I could just get out of the way because I could see all the cars coming right at me in the rear view mirror. Only my car wouldn't let me go because I didn't have my seat belt on! Ugh! I quickly got it on and took off faster than a cheetah.
I don't remember a time when my heart beat so fast! Of course, I had another opportunity to be grateful that no one hit me and I was able to retrieve all of the goodies/boxes even though stopping on a main busy road at night, getting out, and picking stuff up off of the road at 10:30 at night wasn't the brightest thing I have ever done........but I am sure I will eventually do something even "brighter."
I came home and told my hubby and I think my adventures are just a little too much for him sometimes! Thank God he is so patient and hasn't taken away my license just yet! Another thing for me to be grateful for this month.
God just keeps giving me lots of opportunities to be grateful, I don't mind the reminders, but really now, do they have to be so dramatic and always when I am driving?
I am not sure my heart will ever be able to slow down to it's regular pace but I am sure it is full of Thanks!

Satisfaction!
I love this, it is so true! I love the way Anne puts things. Jesus is the only one that can quench that thirst! I pray my girls discover this early in life and don't look for satisfaction through anyone or thing but Him! That's my prayer for my girls! (It still feels weird saying GIRLS!) I can't believe I have 2 sometimes! God is so good!
The Well
"Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst."
John 4:13-14, NIV
Jesus knew the Samaritan woman who met Him at the well had searched for satisfaction and come up short. He knew her heart was empty, without love or self-worth or meaning or fulfillment or happiness. And so He gently pointed out to her, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again." What was "this water"? The woman took it to mean the water in Jacob's well, but Jesus was speaking to her heart. All those who look to draw their satisfaction from the wells of the world-pleasure, popularity, position, possessions, politics, power, prestige, finances, family, friends, fame, fortune, career, children, church, clubs, sports, sex, success, recognition, reputation, religion, education, entertainment, exercise, honors, health, hobbies - will soon be thirsty again!
If you look for deep, lasting satisfaction from any of these wells the world offers, you're wasting your time. You need to be filled with the Living Water of Jesus Christ.
Blessings,
Anne Graham Lotz

The Princess and The Pea
Once upon a time...........there lived a beautiful Princess whose name changed from Belle, to Sleepy Beauty, to Ariel, to Cinderella, to Tinker Bell, (I know she's a fairy) but you get the point. The princess.........
was getting ready for bed one night when she came out of her bathroom and she saw something green in her bed. When she looked closer she discovered a small pea in her bed! She laughed so hard and her face was most hysterical when she saw this, only since she wasn't fully clothed so we cannot show you that picture.............
The tiny pea in the pod smiled at the princess.
Then the tiny pea wondered to herself, "why does my mother have me dressed up like a vegetable when the princess has already told me they do not taste very good and I will not like them when I start eating solids?"
The princess and the pea's mother is just thankful that the princess isn't loving her veggies so much right now so she didn't eat the pea, she just kissed her good night.
The End
