We no longer are counting the days, we are down to counting hours now. In just 48 hours we will be at the hospital and in a little less than 50 we should have our baby girl........in 52 hours I might actually be holding her for the first time. While we are excited that God is blessing us with another little one to love, our hearts are so full of so many different emotions and feelings at this time. The reality that life is such a blessing no matter how long or short was driven home once again this week when our friend's little girl went home to live with Jesus. She was only 10 months old and had some heart problems.
While we know God has great plans for each of us, this plan of His is really hard to understand. At the same time, it has been a real blessing to see the faith of this family in action. They chose not to question God's plan and just trust him, they chose to cherish those special moments that most moms take for granted, of just holding your little one close to you, cherishing the smiles and enjoying each milestone their child met at their own pace. They chose to continue to thank God for the little and big things he was doing. They really are an amazing family and I admire them so much for their faith and hurt so much for their loss.
Many tears have been shed since Friday for them and Amanda asked me, "why are you so sad mommy." When I told her it was because God wanted the little one in heaven to live with him, she looked at me like you keep telling me how wonderful heaven is and can't wait for us to all be there one day if we accept him into our hearts and lives, yet you are sad she is there?
I think the lack of understanding/innocence of children is so refreshing and continue to put my focus right back onto God. I just needed that reminder that His plans really are good for those who love him like this family does, and it took my little girl's questions to just remind me of that this week.
Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Hebrews 11:1
