White House Easter Egg Roll 2012

Well, finally after three or four years of trying to get a ticket.........we won the lottery! No, not the mega lottery but the White House Easter Egg Roll lottery! I was so excited but not sure whether we could use the tickets because we weren't so sure our sweet Amanda would be OK to go. So we prayed she would recover quickly and had a low-key Easter so she wouldn't be too tired for Easter Monday!
The tickets were timed and I must say it was a very, very, organized event. Not to mention, everyone working there was extremely kind and friendly. I am not sure if it was because of all of the free Jelly Bellies they were giving out or what, but everyone was so nice!

We still had to wait in line for our time but the line went quickly and the girls found things as kids are able to do to pass the time.

We passed through security......lots of secret service everywhere!

Amelia's arm band came off and blew away in the wind...so we had to get another one. The gal commented that Amelia has the tiniest wrist that she had seen all day.

The girls were soooo excited and I think I was even more excited, I love stuff like this!

They played in the grass and looked for bugs to pass the time in line......

Amelia sat on the curb outside of the White House........

Amanda and Amelia waiting to get into the White House Lawn! So excited since it was the first time they had been there.

Amelia always manages to find new ways of getting into places and avoid lines.

We made it inside at last!

There were many activities to choose from and the girls chose the EGG HUNT first.

Amelia didn't understand that the eggs were under the hay at this hunt. So she just ran after her sister. Hubby and I got a real kick outta that!

The eggs they used were real hard boiled eggs and you gave them back. Well, we did. This other little boy started eating one! Gross! The worker quickly told him to not eat them since they had been played with all day long......not sure why they used real eggs but Amanda filled her basket and Amelia had zero eggs so she gave her little sis some.

Finally at the end of the hunt Amelia caught on and tried to put the big decorative egg into her basket!

She couldn't pick this one up!

Next up was face painting! The girls had their faces painted at the same time but were a few seats away and both chose a bunny.

Amanda

Amelia held so still. Amanda really enjoyed having her face painted at this age too.

Finished product.

So pretty!

It cracks me up how excited children get over a little face paint! If only we had known earlier we wouldn't have bought any toys.

The girls were so excited to learn they had both chose bunnies and loved admiring each other's.

Next up.....pictures with fun friends and the Egg Roll! Stay tuned, blogging time is up, Gotta run.
